Next evolution of Accent AI filter introduced in Luminar 3.1.0

Major upgrade to the Luminar’s popular Accent AI filter features content-aware object and facial recognition.

BELLEVUE, WA – April 25, 2019 — Today, Skylum Software is proud to announce its latest update to the award-winning Luminar photo editing software, Luminar 3.1.0. This new update features significant enhancements and content-aware recognition to the software’s Accent AI filter, as well as other improvements to its Library.

Accent AI has helped photographers speed up their workflow, automatically handling common tasks like shadows, highlights and contrast. There are over a dozen other adjustments that Accent AI helps to take what can often be a five-minute task and completes it in mere seconds.

Despite this, the current version of Accent AI might not be perfect for every photograph. With the Luminar 3.1.0 update, Accent AI 2.0 changes that, becoming completely human-aware. Accent AI 2.0 features facial and object recognition technology, helping photographers create a more realistic image.

This technology is possible through a new neural network which recognizes specific objects more effectively. Accent AI is trained on more objects than before, and there’s also a new “person” class that helps recognize facial features. By allowing the software to selectively apply these adjustments, photographers can experience an enhanced workflow, resulting in more life-like photographs.

Luminar Looks should see this new technology as well, offering photographers a one-click targeted solution that’s more effective than ever.

Accent AI 2.0 also includes more careful color correction, as well as a smarter detail boost. If it can’t make an object in a photograph look better, it won’t be touched. With these smart technology improvements, photographers can rely on Accent AI more than ever before.

In addition to the new Accent AI filter, Luminar 3.1.0 features several additional improvements to the software’s organizational tools:

• RAW + JPEG (Mac and Windows): Easily organize file pairs in a more convenient way. Photographers can view as a single image and switch between the two versions easily. Organize and rate pairs simultaneously, no matter how you view the two formats.
• Improved Selective Sync (Mac and Windows): Synchronize image adjustments across your photographs. Image layers, crop, erase, clone & stamp no longer affect syncing.
• Import Images (Windows): You can now copy photos to a folder right from inside Luminar. Use this option to pull images from a memory card or other drive and copy them to a new destination.
• Gallery Selection (Windows): Now it’s easier to precisely select and deselect photos in your Gallery. Select non-adjacent photos with Ctrl-click. Click outside a photograph to deselect all photos.

With this update, Skylum will also be offering a special price on Luminar 3 for a limited time.

Photographers can continue to look forward to other future updates to Luminar. Skylum’s Luminar roadmap includes IPTC edit and sync, more AI features, performance improvements, and additional camera support.

How to update

Users with Luminar 3 can update for free to version 3.1.0. Mac users can update by choosing Luminar 3 in the top menu bar, and then clicking “Check for updates.” Windows users can choose Help > Check for updates on the top toolbar.
